I posted this in the rules forum and they said to try posting it here:
I currently have a PFS character that ( through the influence of both PCs and NPCs) is contemplating her religious beliefs.
My question is twofold:
1. what are the rules for changing deities?
2. she has the trait of her deity (asmodeus) and the trait mentions that it is there whether or not the person is currently worshiping asmodeus or not, so if she changes her god, would she lose the trait, be able to change it, or just keep it as is?

If the character is NOT a divine caster then you just stop worshiping whatever god you currently are and start worshiping the new god.
If your character is a divine caster of some type then you need to get an Atonement cast on your character from a cleric (or some divine caster able to cast Atonement) on the NEW god your looking to worship.
As for the trait, it is what it is. If it gives you a bonus for worshiping Asmodeus because of the trait, if you stop worshiping Asmodeus you loose the benefit of the trait.
With the new retraining rules that have been allowed from Ultimate Campaign you *may* be able to change the trait but I don't know those rules so I'm not sure.
Hope this helps!

Not sure if you can do the first... it might work like changing from cleric to cleric with the new retraining rules.
For the second thats a definite yes, the trait shuts off if you switch deities and you can't retrain traits.
The one exception to this is religion traits—since these traits require continued faith in a specific deity, your character can indeed lose the benefits of these traits if he switches religions. In this case, consult your GM for your options.
