Hi everyone
An issue has just come up in the game I am running
It is around how you gain hero points
The book says you gain one when gaining a level. But it also says once a hero point is spent it can never be regained
So if a character has a threshold of 3 hero points (the maximum), spends one during a combat to drop to 2.
Can the character get back up having 3 usable points ever again?
And if so what can they methods:
- One of the hero point feat (I assume a given)
- Heroic activity
- Gaining a level (this one is the fierce debate)
Overall question is are hero points slowly replenished as you level up?
Thanks for any help

What Seldriss wrote.
He doesn't get that same point back(eg. after resting), but he can always gain new ones, to a maximum of 3.
And there are suggestions for awarding hero points. And since they are player focused(metagame) rather than character focused, they can be gained by out of play deeds. some mentioned here.
And I include birthdays, good exam grades, getting a new book, good bribes, good plot advancement, good character development, getting a quad 20 on a hit... stuff like that...

As a houserule, I personally grant a bonus number of hero points equal to the Cha bonus, which brings to a total maximum equal to 3 + Cha modifier.
It's a way to connect the force of personality aspect of Charisma to the heroic concept of, well, Hero Points. And it gives a new reason not to dump low scores in Charisma.
Like DonDuckie, I also sometimes "refund" or grant hero points for exceptional actions or roleplaying (birthdays too).
