Hexstaff Magus

Advice

Sovereign Court

Hello. I need some ideas/advice to roll up Magus with the Hexcrafter and Staff Magus Archetypes. This a 20 point buy. Thanks in adavance.

Slumber Hex is one of the best hexes so I recommend that. For stats I would go with STR=INT>CON>DEX>WIS>CHA. Maybe stats like
Str14
Dex13
Con16
Int14
Wis11
Cha7
Before racial modifiers. Try to get a race with a bonus to STR. and INT., you start with 11 HP or 12 if you take the favored class in HP. Try to get Lamellar leather armor ASAP because it is +4 to AC, and only 60gp. You will probably want a wand of shield as well to free up some spell slots. Which spell do you want to focus on? Chill touch is great, but shocking grasp is more common. Corrosive touch is a great spell to, its shocking grasp without the +2 to hit on metal and d4 acid damage, so it isn't as resistable. Just my first thoughts

Shocking Grasp is what I was looking at, but Corrosive is very tempting.

Both are nice, my magi prepare it 50/50. Get Improved Critical Quarterstaff As your 9th level feat, to get you the ability to critical with a spell 10% of the time instead of 5%. Other feats may include Dodge, lunge, weapon focus Quarterstaff, <-but greater, spec, etc.

For Hexcrafters I like to focus on Necromancy spells, since Bestow Curse is so good. Vampiric Touch becomes a very good choice for specialization.

Frostbite is a good spell unless you end up fighting things immune to nonlethal damage.

Since you get Save/Suck spells (and some of the best), you will probably want to take spell focus a time or two. Also, for Improved Initiative is a great feat and Magi make the best use of Combat Casting (They are one of the few arcane classes that actually cast in combat.)
