Vindicator's Shield and Cleric levels

Rules Questions

Hello there!

I have a question concerning the Holy Vindicator and his first level ability "Vindicator's Shield". It says that you get a bonus to your armor class equal to the number of dice of the vindicator's channel energy. To me it sounds like the cleric's channel energy doesn't count for it. Am I right or misunderstanding anything?

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking if you only get a bonus based on the damage dice increased while using holy vindicator level? Because if so, I do not believe that the Vindicator's Channel Energy is any different than the Clerics Channel Energy, and since they stack, you should get a bonus equal to the dice you channel. A cleric7/holy vindicator1 should get a +4 to AC from vindicator's shield. In other words, there isn't any difference btw. the 2 channel energies. I hope this answers your question.

Yep. You're missing a key piece of data. Right above that ability you have the Vindicator's Channel Energy ability which reads:

Channel Energy (Su): The vindicator's class level stacks with levels in any other class that grants the channel energy ability.

So, the vindicator's total dice for the Shield will equal his vindicator level plus his cleric levels (or any other class that grants Channel) combined. That goes for any other ability which might trigger off of a Vindicator's Channel (unless otherwise specified).

So, a 7 Cleric/1 HV would have 4 dice for Channel, so the bonus is +4, a 7 Cleric/2HV would have 5 dice, so the bonus is +5, etc...

Ah...that makes sense. Thank you both a lot!
