Retraining post 14th

Scarab Sages 4/5 **

Just curious to the order of retraining prior to the first game played post the 14th go live date.

Can we bring a character to the table with the relevant retraining done, show the details to the GM prior to the game (ensuring doesnt impose on their prep time etc), and then sit and play with the new character form for that slot, ensuring that the Prestige/Gold spent is noted on that scenario's log.

Or... Do we have to play a scenario in the old form, and at the end of the game inform the GM so the relevant gold/prestige is paid.

To me the former seems reasonable as long as you as a player have everything prepared ahead of time, minimizing any additional work for the GM.

Anyone have issues either way with these scenarios?

Thanks

I don't see any reason that you couldn't sit down at the first game after the go-live date with everything done. In fact, I would argue that this is the polite thing to do--GMs aren't necessarily going to want to sit and wait while you do a bunch of math, so the ideal would be to have it done beforehand. The changes are legal as of the go-live date, so you should be able to use them on that date, not after your first game on the date.

... but doesn't it go live on the 15th? I thought they released the Guide on the 5th so we'd have 10 days to look it over.

Sorry if I got the date wrong....

I assumed the 14th as I thought that was the start of Gencon...but if its the 15th all good... my next game isnt till the following weekend, just wanted to be sure I had everything done right and proper :)

The new season starts on Aug 15th, the first day of Gen Con. The new Guide goes live on Aug 14th so people have 24 hours prior to the start of the new season to make changes to their character, such as the new retraining rules.

Although it is not strictly necessary it would probably be a good idea to print out the relevant pages of the new guide to show the GM. And, of course, you have to bring along Ultimate Campaign in one of its legal forms.

Don't forget to look for the final version of the 5.0 with the change log due out tomorrow/Monday, I think, certainly before the 14th.

One piece of advice:
Bring both versions of the PC with, so the GM can easily see what was changed. That would also fit the "must be done in front of GM" part of the retraining rule.
