Age of Worms Adventure Path


So this is my campaign outline I "stole" some ideas from other DMs on the forum but some of them are my original ideas.

Anyway some background info it's running in Eberron and I'm tying to incorporate a horror feeling like Call of Cthulu. If anyone can help me with that being as I only listened to the audiobook and am pretty noob when it come to Cthulu Mythos. Oh and also I'm trying to drop hell'a Easter eggs. So feel free to comment, give advice, criticize, lend ideas, steal ideas.

Things the party doesn't know:

now those skeletons at the begin were actually the ebon triads not filge's

the missing people from the carriage were turned into undead

the house orien heir is being used by the ebon triad to build traps

the conspiracy against the party is a scheme by Smenk to bring public attention away from himself and the events happening/about to happen.

Chanum Gansworth is working with Smenk against the PCs so he can get Gelch's mine and Lazare's House but he has no idea of what is really happening in diamond lake

Filge if he survives will not be an enemy but ally of the PC's should he live

The PC's sold the lanterns to Tidwood so I (even after they figured out the trap) so if they don't steal/buy them back after 2 more days they will have to face the trap if they go back to the whispering cairn

Replacing Rod of Seven parts with a custom set of legacy items this one will be a scythe

"The Three Faces of Evil"

Volcano Ashes from the city of the caldron (I'm putting that in the mountains west of Breland)

The ebon triad will release the aspect after 10 days of the start of the campaign regardless of where the PC are (If this happens he will destroy the town due to the fact that I underpowered every NPC cept Cubbin)

The Faceless One is a worshiper of Keeper and The Grimlocks worship the shadow

The Faceless One is really a worshiper of Vol he is a spy in the ranks of the ebon triad and is hoping to empower Vol(& himself through what he learns and his involvement)

The Priestess of of the green lady (a sect of the keeper) is kidnapped by the Faceless One to use as a sacrifice in his place (he plans on surviving so I hope he can make it out alive)

When the PC meet Smenk he is just about to leave Diamond Lake to avoid the destruction of the town.

Replacing Dire Weasels

find the map to the demonveil in faceless ones lair (possible side quest before Blackwall)

Once the PCs emerge from the temple Smenk mets them there with the sheriff claiming that the PCs were set up by Ragnolin and Chanum in an attempt to gain power (both are now dead rotting in the abandon mine) establishing an uneasy truth between the party and Smenk.

"Encounter at Blackwall Keep"

This is where $h*t gets real, Allustan will not be accompanying and this will take place 20 miles of the town mistmarsh

The PCs besides for meeting the sage Allustan arranged for them to accompany a prisoner (So they look like guards because the spies of the ebon triad are every where)

In mistmarsh they solve a short murder mystery involving a wererat (exemplars of evil)

blackwall keep is actually built around the "abandoned" tolstoff keep (exemplars of evil) and has a has a small village within it. The mayor the tolstoff sister but with a phoney name.

The basement is being replaced with a prison

The PCs after fight the lizardfolk at the beginning of the adventure the spend the night at the blackwall where they meet the mayor and spend time with the soldiers who tell ghost stories about the keep

The adventure continues as normal until after the PC break the egg at which point i'll have them play as guards that respond to a disturbance in the jail. there they find most of the prisoners are gone (having been converted to the ebon triad). The ones that are there are too frightened to speak and spawn of kyuss pick off the guards one by one.

Meanwhile Ilthane has given the tolstoffs everything they need to release their grandfather from his tomb a Kyber dragonshard that weaken the eldritch chamber holding him it takes 8 hours to work by the time the PCs enter the Keep they have 1 hour to stop the ritual from taking place.

If he is released (lvl 18 worm that walks) he slithers of to regain his strength and plot for the coming age


the volcano ashes of Cauldron would be better in the Blackcaps northwest of the Blackpit only a suggestion
