Muses of Jade

Advice

So I want to create a bard that I can play in Jade Regent. The problem is that I am conflicted on the build. Do I go with a human that I have an interesting concept to? Or do I go with a Musetouched Aasimar? So, which should I choose?

With my human choice, I was planning on creating a pied piper type of character; someone who's really skilled with a flute. However, I would have him be a mute. How to do that, however, is the question. Would I need a third party source? Some kinda of house-rule? A flaw (which I cannot find)? Please explain.

The Musetouched Aasimar, on the other hand, is easier to build with and I could come up with some backstory for interesting RP purposes. I have access to the Lillend's Harp trait. However, I don't start with two feats or an extra skill point from race. One of my favorite feats to pick up is Extra Traits. I was hoping to pick up either the Intense Artist trait or the Inner Beauty trait. If I could make a Musetouched Aasimar bard build work, let me know.

So any advice?

Well, for the mute aspect, I think all you would have to do is tell your DM what you want (being mute) and make sure your character doesn't speak and just role-play it like that. Make sure you have other means to communicate. 2 notes on the flute for no, 1 note for yes or writing out your thoughts on paper or just using chalk.

As for the Aasimar, you could make it work, although if you're not dead set on extra traits right away you could use it for other things. I'm not much of a bard player so I don't know what feats they would have that are considered utterly necessary. Other than the obvious combat choices.
