Making a gestalt character

So, I'm planning on playing in a gestalt campaign starting at lvl 3, using 3.x. I used to love the complexities of 3.x before, but now I don't have much desire to go back and re-learn all the classes and do all the many dips here and there that were part and parcel of the game.

The DM has agreed to let me draft up a PF-made character for the campaign, and out of courtesy, I plan to not use any 3.x materials to supplement the character (ie stuff like Snowflake Wardance).

My current plan is making a Paladin // Oracle or Bard, though I'm also considering a Ranger/Inquisitor.

For the Paladin, I would at least dip into Oracle so I could get Cha to AC and go lightly armored. Bard rounds out saves and skills a little better than Oracle would.

Hopefully these would be sufficient in terms of power. I guess if I need to reach I could do some sort of Summoner//Martial.

So, thoughts on these combinations? Your preferred combinations? Using PF in a 3.x game?

I'd avoid anything pet related if you are doing gestalt, but that may depend on the nature of the group and campaign.

I love the paladin/sorcerer gestalt character, possibly a draconic with the sorcerer side heading into Dragon Disciple.

No matter what you pick I wouldn't worry about reflex saves too much - with paladin cha to saves and swift action heals I think you'll be fine. Overall it's hard to make a 'wrong' choice when gestalting, since having the power of two classes is fairly strong in and of itself.

So, just found out the stats we're using...18, 18, 16, 16, 14, 8. This group always did like high powered games.

I was thinking Paladin // Monk 2 / Oracle (Lore) X.

Now I'm thinking of going into the Champion of the Enlightened PrC on the Paladin side. I'm just not clear on if it advances your LoH normally, or only when you use ki to activate LoH. It doesn't specify, but it's part of the Ki Pool description.

At 2nd level, a champion of the Enlightened gains a ki pool equal to 1/2 his class level + his Wisdom modifier; this functions like the monk ability of the same name, and levels in this class stack with levels in other classes that grant a ki pool. In addition to the normal uses of this ki pool, a champion of the Enlightened may expend 2 ki points to trigger either his lay on hands ability (if he has it) or his smite evil ability. His class levels stack with paladin levels when determining the effect of such abilities. (Bold added)

It adds extra Lay on Hands if you have the Ki Points for it. Your default Lay on Hands are not increased.

To clarify, I meant to ask if the amount healed is increased on all LoH, or just ki activated ones. I'm aware it doesn't advance the amount of times you can LoH w/o spending ki.

From what I believe, it increases all the effects.
