The player-friendly map of Varisia from Shattered Star and the player-friendly map of Irrisen are awesome maps.

We need more maps like this (player-friendly, old world style) in future map folios. The folios have always been a lackluster product (in my humble opnion) and these types of maps go a long way toward finally making them really useful as a game aid.

I love the way my players gather around and study these maps when I plunk one down on the table.

There's one in Skulls & Shackles too. I think it's going to become a thing for all future packs. I do wish that the Ustalav map from the Carrion Crown pack was like that though.

Even better. 3's a trend!

I was actually flipping through the packs at one of my local game shops, and Carrion Crown and Jade Regent both have more modern maps of their countries, while S&S was the first to have the parchment map. I'm excited to look at the Irrisen one though, since I love the Varisia one :D

It's a minor thing, but any chance the 'creases' printed on the parchment maps could be lined up to run along the actual creases?

EDIT: Now I type it out, I want to stress that it's a very minor thing.

I'm pretty sure there's enough variance in printing and folding that the best we could manage is "pretty close, and better for some folks than others."

Yeah, that makes sense. it felt a bit whiny just asking, to be honest.

I'm the opposite. I dislike the "fancy" maps. I want DM friendly, well done standard maps with all the necessary info I need. The faux "vintage" maps are a waste to me.

I like those too, but not poster size (I find that impractical, behind the screen).

I love any type of map. The more, the better! Getting Irrisen map soon!

The new "vintage map" style is what brought me back to a Campaign Setting subscription. I cancelled last year because l did not use the map folios. l find these cool player versions far more useful than just big maps from the books. Keep them coming.

On the contrary, I think the vintage maps are great because they aren't DM-friendly. You can put it on the table for the players to look at without having to worry about any campaign spoilers.

To each their own and all that.
