Using Old d20 versions with PF

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

Long ago...seriously...long ago....I bought the first four chapters of Rise of the Runelords, intending to play it in a 3.5 game.

I'm only now getting around to playing them, but now we're using PFRPG. I know that normally conversion is an easy thing, but does anyone know if there's a way to get PF versions of these adventures if you have them already for 3.5/d20, or do you have to buy them again to get the PF version?

I bought the printed versions AND the PDF versions...do PDF versions of the old ones exist in PF rules, and would they allow something like this?

Danke,
JT

You could purchase the Runelords Anniversary Edition, which is converted to Pathfinder. It's only $50 and includes some nice extras.

Toying with that idea, but as a somewhat practical dude it's hard to just write off the nearly 80 bucks I have invested in the first four in the series,

You could think of it as rounding out the set. Instalments 5 and 6 would cost you $40 (non mint). The anniversary edition is $60 and gives you those two, plus the first four all converted to pathfinder and reworked based on fivish years of play testing.

If you we're to list the four original issues on eBay or something, I'd be confident you could recoup the $20 difference and wouldn't mind betting you'd actually cover the entire $60.

Right now the PDF of the anniversary edition is $42, which is only slightly more than the cover price of issues 5 and 6 together. Think of it as paying $2 for the conversions.

Plus, the original versions include the support articles like the god writeups and fiction which were not ported to the anniversary edition, so you'll still have benefits from having your originals.

If you want unofficial conversions, there are some to be had if you look around.

I won't go unofficial -- I'll just grab the pdf...i use d20Pro, so more and more I've leaned toward digital if only because it's easier to get the maps setup in the software.

Thanks all,
JT

As someone who bought the first three books of Rise of the Runelords for 3.5e I am still very happy that I bought the Anniversary Edition pdf and don't feel that I wasted my money. While it was slightly easier for me to make the decision, as I had 3 books to buy rather than just 2, I would still recommend the anniversary edition on pdf in your situation.

Quoting myself there due to irony. So I bought the full anniversary edition "because it's easier to get the maps setup in the software", only to find that the maps are at a whole new level of bad in terms of gridlines/shape, rendering it a nightmare to get them into the software.

I gotta find an RPG publisher that understands VTT users. Ideally one that creates PF products, but at this point I'm willing to jump back to 3.5 or forward to D&DNext if I can run a game without spending most of my prep time fixing map scale issues.

I've imported a bunch of maps from the ROTRL:AE PDF into MapTool, with nary a problem. I do need to fiddle with scaling a bit, but I just eyeball it so that the gridlines of the map graphic file line up more-or-less with the gridlines from MapTool. Takes maybe five minutes of fiddling per map.

Can't speak to d20Pro, though.
