Knowledge check to figure out a sorcerer's bloodline?

Advice

Is the question in the title possible? If so, what kind of knowledge check would be needed to do it?

Just curious.

If you saw it use a bloodline power, and knew it was a bloodline power, I'd say it would be knowledge arcana or something related to the bloodline (like religion for celestial/infernal/abyssal, or planes for elemental, etc.). There is nothing RAW that I know of though, saying you can or can't do this.

I'm pretty sure that you could set varying DCs for varying bloodlines. Some have effects that are more subtle, but when the thing breathes dragon breath on you or teleports you to outer space, it's pretty obvious. I'd say Arcana with the DC = 10 + target's HD + target's Bluff or Disguise mod is a reasonable starting point if you don't want to get all complex with it.

I'd almost feel that the DC for finding out the bloodline should go down the higher the sorcerer level because more (and more obvious) effects start manifesting. So maybe...DC 25 - 1 per 2 levels? Just what I would do.

Logically yes, but that's not how DCs in the game work in general. That could work too. Spellcraft could provide a relevant bonus to the check, as well (perhaps to identify a bloodline power as such instead of a spell?). Or allow a sense motive check if you observe them use their bloodline related skill?
