Advice

Its been 30 years since I played any dnd, but I am trying to put a pathfinder game together for my family, to introduce this old school play to them. I am using D0 - Hollow’s Last Hope pre made adventure.

I am having trouble building these npcs. I can find tables for rouges, I can find tables for expert npcs, but I can't seem to figure out how to combine them into one character sheet. im sure with more experience this is easy...but I am lost if anyone could show me a stat block or full character sheet (minus bio and fluff) for Gavel, and or explain how to create a multi class npc id appreciate it.

Gavel Thuldrin Kreed, LE male human expert 3/rogue 4

Magistrate Vamros Harg, NE male halfling aristocrat 2/sorcerer 5

Sheriff Deldrin Baleson, LN male halfelf expert 3/fighter 3

Boss Payden “Pay Day” Teedum, LE male human monk 2/fighter 3

thanks in advance for your time and assistance. I am losing my mind over this simple thing lol

First things first: read the "Getting Started" chapter of the core rules, and then the information on multiclassing in the Classes chapter.

The long and short of it is that everything adds up. So your first character has the skills, hit points and saving throws of a 3rd level expert, and on top of that, the skills, hit points, saving throws, sneak attack, and rogue talents of a 4th level rogue added on top. He has the feats of a 7th level character (5 for a human), and the wealth of a 7th level heroic NPC (see the Creating NPCs section).

That's pretty much it.

thanks, read those sections over and over..guess I just did not grasp the flow. got it now. much appreciated, and can get back to working on my encounters..many many thanks

edit: I am a bit amazed how active this pnp game community is, in this day of video games. hope my kids get hooked :)

I totally understand the confusion over multiclassing if your last DnD experience was 30 years ago. Understanding old school 1E and 2E multiclassing was like trying to study byzantine law. It rarely made sense, now that it makes perfect sense on how it's done, it seems more complicated!

Well here's hoping your game session turns out really well, and I agree with you, the community here is fantastic. I never cease to be amazed by the responses here.
