Along time ago there were the Sovrune, a primitive and savage race of subhumans. Of all the creatures on earth, none were as unevovled as they. Thousands of years passed as the Sovrune slaughtered eachother in endless warfare and constant strife.
One among them Vathuum, had a glimmer of intelligence and sought change. He was not the greatest warrior but he knew he must leave his people and travel to the Mountain of Shaoth (Gloom?). He had dreamt of a light within that shadowy mountain, that mountain which all Sovrune had feared since birth
Why he felt the need to seek this light or even if there was a light has been long questioned and all that is known is that after his return, he was changed. He was something else, something more. Was it an artifact or ambrosia? None could say. Vathuum took a wife among the Sovrune and time passed.
Children were born to Vathuum and they were as he. Yet, he never grew old and it is said he brought the storm that grew their crops. If this is true, none can say for he had gone shortly after his one son and daughter came to maturity and wed.
His sudden disappearance confused the rest of the primitive Sovrune but given their limited intellect, quickly went back to life as usual.. or so they thought. Everytime a child was born to the line of Vathuum, they were as he. Smart, ageless, and empowered.
Soon all Sovrune were as he was and all showed a great talent for power. As they travelled the world, the men and beasts of the land marvelled at there perfection and some even worshipped them as gods. It is how the word sovereign came to this world for none could oppose their power in those days. Those, the ancient Sovrune.
Sovrune Racial Traits:
*+2 to any two ability scores of their choice. - 2 to any one ability score of their choice.
*Medium sized
*Normal speed
*Free feat: Skill focus
*Immortality: Sovrune do not age mentally or physically after the age of 25.
*Languages: Sovrune begin speaking common. Sovrune with high intelligence may also choose between auran, aquan, ignan, terran, draconic, celestial, abyssal, and infernal.
Physical description: A Sovrune appears as many humans do with the exception that they appear to be perfect. The lines in their face more symmetrical, etc. This physical perfection has no bearing on ability scores but abilities over 18 are reflected in their appearance such as a high intelligence resulting in glowing eyes or a 18 strength resulting in "heroic muscles". In addition all Sovrune have the mark of sovereignty upon their brow, a symbol of their power. This symbol is unique to each Sovrune.
Society: Sovrune society is a cross between human and elf in that they are patient and craft works of art unequalled and yet have the passion of humans so sometimes upheaval occurs to shake the status of their foundation. Alas, several Sovrune communities exist in the multiverse.
Relations: The Sovrune are on good terms with elves who know of their existance and some celestials ,demons, devils, and their ilk are cautious as any Sovrune can be aligned to any moral and ethical viewpoint. Elementals however are on good terms usually as the Sovrune respect the raw power of the elements over many other ideals.
Alignment and religion: Sovrune follow any alignment and religion they choose.
Names: Many if not all Sovrune names sound elemental in nature such as Vathuum, Faasharoos, and Kraokot for males. Voorah, Saeyetha, and Sweesha for females.
( This is just something I wanted to do for fun. I wanted to create a playable race similar to humans but whom in ancient days might have been worshipped as near divine. They are not outsiders nor are they native outsiders. They are in fact, humanoids. Ageless and talented but humanoids nonetheless. I didn't want to go crazy with a bunch of powers either. Those can be attained by adding classes. They are not limited to elemental abilities but they do prefer them over all so for example, you want to make a sorcerer, a common choice would be elemental bloodline. They choose elemental abilities because the true gods might get jealous if they claim sovereignty of non elemental forces but maybe not. Anyhow, this is my first want to use them in your campaign it would be an honor and if not, I hope it atleast amused you.
