Not every instantaneous spell have effects that last after the spell itself resolves, but Burning Hands does. Can I suppose that an admixture wizard changing the [fire] energy in [cold] could extinguish a little 2x2squares fire as soon as it manifests?
Up to your GM. Changing the energy type will remove the "burn" from burning hands. But whether it adds another effect (if any) is up to your GM. It is generally a given that cold damage extinguishes flames (in the 15ft cone that is the affected area of the spell).
