Making Magic Items for Dummies

Rules Questions

Greets,

Is there a lesser rate to make items that only boost one save as opposed to all three (AKA Cloak of Resistance)

As well, when doing say something that works only 3/Day it says this:

Divide by (5 divided by charges per day).

This means in this case 5 divided by 3 correct? IE 1.67?

Correct. I don't know why they didn't just write it as:

Multiply by charges per day, then divide by 5.

That arrives at the same result. They must've wanted to use the word "divide" there for consistency with the others, I suppose.

No idea about the single-save item though.

It seems reasonable that a single-save item would be worth 1/3 an item that added to all three saves, but I might price it as 50%/75%/100% instead as people are likely to grab the one that benefits them the most. It also makes the math a lot easier. (This would be a houserule though. I don't know of any existing item that does such a thing.)

I know in the book it gives a chart on creating your own magic item. I feel there maybe a certain formula you could come close enough with to make it for that item. If not you may want to talk to your DM as someone else suggested and see if you can come up with a house rule.
