Starting a Friday night game (either PbP or roll20)

Hello, I've been here at the forums looking for a game, but I have been able to get in one, so I shall try my hand at GMing one here, either by PbP or by roll20. I prefer the latter because then it will be a friday night game and I prefer having a set night and running it on that night. This is not going to be a PFS game, and I will be making modifications to certain races in order to make them more like their theme. Like an ifrit will instead have produce flame 3/times a day. I have decided to do this in order to get to know the online community better. I'm willing to do an adventure path, but I would still need to buy it, otherwise it would be of my home brewed world. I'm looking for 4-6 players, and I may have an NPC traveling with the group to fill any roles we don't have filled, i.e a cleric if we don't have a healer. These characters will be 1 level below everyone so they are not to far behind, but won't steal the spotlight. I'm allowing archetypes and alternate classes and races as long as you ok it with me. I would like a back story and will link a map to my world once it has been decided that is what we play. Talk to me about what you want your characters back story to be, and how you want that to be affected by the world. We will be starting at level 5, so that you are a decent adventurer or skilled character. Here are the rules I will allow.
1. No 3.5 or third party publishing
2. Anything that paizo has published is allowed as long as it has been okay'd by me.
3. All official books are allowed, i.e UC, UM, ARG, ect.
4. If you want to play an exotic race, go for it, just talk to me.
5. Certain races will be changed, like ifrits as mentioned above.
6. Everyone gets 2 traits
7. Decent backstory, if you say the name of a town, I'll be happy to incorperate it to my world.
8. Have fun, it's what pathfinder is all about.
Thank you for read, any questions just ask. :)

Bump for interest.

Bump, again

Yet another bump

Bump...... yet again, would hope to get some opinions before noon

I'm interested except I can only play PbP as of the moment due to work.

I think I am interested. First thing I need to ask is what time do you plan on running such a game? Friday night is good for me but I am only available from 7pm - 11pm UTC -6 (Central time).

Other than that I like homebrew worlds the best. I will look at past concepts that I came up with and see what I can make.

What level of firearms?

Firearms are just beginning, but there can be gunslingers, though they are few in numbers and usually from noble homes. And yes to the 7:30pm-11:30 though still around that time. I'm thinking maybe even a pirate game, or a game near a river or sea, so yes to merfolk, though in order to keep their handicap I will not allow the strongtail alternate racial trait.

I'm interested in playing the pbp. I'm not available for Friday nights unless it's after midnight (GMT +8).

Oh you speak my language. I would LOVE a water based campaign. I previously played a merfolk in a skull and shackles game and would jump at the chance to play one again. A pirate game would be AWESOME.

Some questions:

  • Starting gold?
  • Acceptable alignments?
  • How do you want us to do attributes?

I should state that either Roll20 or PbP is fine with me. Although I am fond of live games.

interested in pbp any idea on the setting you will run, is it an AP? also what is point buy or rolled stats? also if it is a roll20 game what time on friday?

Starting Gold is going to be 5000, nothing above CL 8 may be bought

Any alignment, I will ask the full party what they would like the game to be, good or evil, for now pick one
25 point buy, 1 point each up to 15, 2 for 16-18, and 4 for 19-20
Any other questions just ask :)

Setting will probably be a water based one, see above post for stats, and if roll20 it will be 7:30 -11:30 on fridays. I'd prefer to do roll20, but I am willing to do a pbp if need be.

I almost forgot, how do you want us to do HP?

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

timezone? also are alternate Aasimar and tiefling heritages acceptable

Grand Moff Vixen wrote:

2 rolls and if both of those fail take the middle number, 3 on a d6, 4 on a d8, ect.

Danit= wrote:

I'm in the central timezone. For the aasimar and tiefling, tell me what you're thinking for them and I'll respond.

and will this be based on the pathfinder setting for backstory

Danit wrote:

Come up with a backstory and I'll change it according to the world, like if you want to grow up in a small village near a volcano I can add one.

I am in favor of homebrew. I like those best.

I am going to make a merfolk ranger.

HP rolls:

1d10 ⇒ 2
1d10 ⇒ 2
1d10 ⇒ 8
1d10 ⇒ 10

1d10 ⇒ 4
1d10 ⇒ 3
1d10 ⇒ 4
1d10 ⇒ 4

I will take the first set. Bumping the number to a 4 on the first 2 dice and I get 4, 4, 8, 10.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

well i got a few character consepts,

A Peri-Blooded Hedge witch Aasimar they get +2 int and char

a Azata Blooded Aasimar Ninja +2 Dex char

a normal Tiefling Bladebound Kensai magus

and a Rakshasa spawn Tiefling rogue of some sorts

have the magus done atm for backstory and stuff.

o its not standard pointbuy?

Danit wrote:

Artaxe Fireforge wrote:

  • 25 point buy

  • 2 for 16-18
  • 4 for 19-20

So a 15 str would cost 5 points whereas an 18 would cost 11.

Danit wrote:

Ya its nonstandard I know, I like the players to have more epic stats for challenges down the road. And about the races I will allow them all as long as they match in power as the base races, and as long as I know about the racial traits and such, from what you have shown I have no qualms about them.

Yep, I like the feeling of them being a hero so they should be more then slightly above the rest.

allowing called shots or the feat improved Called shot?

What is a good choice for the favored enemies for this game?

Also, what would be the second most terrain we will encounter?

Danit wrote:

Sounds like a neat idea for a feat, I'll allow it, otherwise I keep called shots at a -4 penalty.

Grand Moff Vixen wrote:

Probably humans, orcs, and elves, anything that you would think might be on a ship or in the water. I am also a fan of water dragons at higher levels. For the terrain, you will be near a forest land, so there's a good one.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

also i can do either roll 20 or pbp i usually dont work Friday

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

its on ultimate combat page 195 and on 194 there's a chart for different called shots and effects if you want to look at it

Alright, called shots are in for that then. Maybe a slight modification here and their, like if their wearing a helmet it might be a challenging rather then tricky to hit them in the head.

If you have anyone else you would like to tell, please do so, just not to many. A group of 4-6 is ideal.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Danit wrote:

Alright then, glad to see what you will come up with, I'll have more details in a little bit about the campaign.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

may i craft a rifle or revolver to start with ? half price is 2k for revolver and 2.5k for rifle

Danit wrote:

Sure, no problem. Remember though to fit being noble somewhere in your backstory as nobles are the only ones who really even know what guns are, unless of course you were a pirate or some other background that involves discovering or taking this weapon.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

how do i roll a dice on here

If roll20 doesn't have a system for that then I will trust the rolls made. If it starts getting suspicious I'll take a look.

Type dice in brackets and insert the die you want into it. Like this:

[dic.e]1d20[/dice] If you want to add modifiers to the roll do this:

[dic.e=Perception]1d20+11[/dice]

Just remove the . in the first dice name and you have it.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

1d10 ⇒ 3
1d10 ⇒ 1

1d10 ⇒ 5
1d10 ⇒ 7

1d10 ⇒ 4
1d10 ⇒ 8

1d10 ⇒ 10
1d10 ⇒ 7

By the way, you may want to change that favored terrain to Jungle, because that is going to be the area around it. The land is called Miryks, heavily populated with exotic races. Many gnomes and halfling also take a liking to this land as well. Certain dwarves from a land slightly farther north come down. Elves like this land for its rich trees, palm mostly but these elves just love them. Many other races inhibit these lands, such as merfolk, tengu, catfolk, ratfolk and many others.

So jungle would be better than water? Just making sure before I make a definite choice.

1d20 ⇒ 12
This is great :)

Grand Moff Vixen wrote:

No jungle would be better then forest for a secondary terrain. Level 5 rangers have 2 right?

Also, if you want the skill name to come up in green like mine did just use the dice=skill name.

[dic.e=Stealth]1d20+18[/dice] should come out like:

Stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
This is amazing lol, but I believe roll20 has their own, if we decide to do that.
