Grappling and Charging

Rules Questions

Alright, so before my gaming sessions since some of my players are new I usually take some time to go over some of the more obscure tactical options in the game. This week, I plan on going over combat maneuvers (Not the least reason of which is that they seem to be necessary to hit the Fighter right now, and if I'm going to be using them against her I want her to understand the mechanics).

That said, there are a few things I want to make sure I understand and explain correctly.

If she charges an opponent with natural, can he use his AOO from her moving through his threat range to grapple her? I believe the answer is yes, but would like confirmation.

If said monster successfully grapples her, which will then pull her into a square adjacent to it according to the grapple rules, can she still make her attack from the charge, since a charging character attacks at the end of their movement?

Grapple is a standard action and on AOOs you cant use actions.

Grapple is a standard action. So it can't normally be used with a AoO. However a creature with the grab ability can initiate a grapple after a successful attack as a free action (some believe that free actions like this cannot be taken outside the creatures turn but that is another debate.) Alternatively the creature can ready to grapple the Fighter when she comes within range.

As for whether the charge is interrupted, it probably is. But I am a nice GM and would allow a normal standard action if the player has moved up to or less than a move action. But that is because I am a nice GM.

That is... VERY good to know. This is my first time DMing in a long time, so my rules mastery is a little rusty. To add on though, is there a list of which maneuvers are standard actions and which can replace a normal attack?

Melee Attack: Disarm, Sunder, Trip
Standard: Bull Rush, Overrun, Grapple, Feint, Dirty Trick, Drag, Reposition, Steal
Charge: Bull Rush, Overrun

Note: there may be feats and abilities which change the default action type.

Thank you very much!
