Solo PC Ruler question

Kingmaker

So my game has a large number of NPCs assisting my lone PC that has taken the mantle of Baroness (for now), she had a legitimate question that I saw no rule for (unless I missed it).

How would one go about 'paying' their underlings that help run the kingdom? Obviously comes out the build points, but how much per NPC?

I always treated that as part of the running costs of the kingdom. It costs 1 BP per month per hex. part of that (in my game) goes towards paying senior NPCs.

They get houses, furs, jewellery, - servants - nights out - all out of the running costs. But then I do the same for our PCs as well.

Hmm, I was also going to be using rules from the Ultimate Campaign (downtime) since at least 4 of the NPCs would have the ability to craft magic gear (for their own use as well as the Baroness). So that's my main reason for needing advice on how much gp would be reasonable per month. After all, they're not static and mindless when she's not dealing with them, and she appreciates that I give them life.

Thankfully, she has JUST started that year she builds her kingdom so I don't NEED the advice as desperately yet. I'm grateful for any help. (1bp is 4k gp right? So that's pretty damn good on a monthly basis)

Whoops, missed your post before adding my second one, how would that convert to GP for magic item creation do you think?

1 BP withdrawn roughly equals 2000 GP I believe.

(Depositing money it's double that, 4000 GP for 1 BP, but much like anything else in the game selling gets you half gold value.)

Okay, then next question, would that still count as withdrawing for the purposes of causing Unrest?

For basic calculations I value a build point at 3000gp -

My party crafts during down time, some of it with NPCs. I always make the PCs pay for the materials of crafted items from the funds they find adventuring. There is loads of treasure available - even if they sell it at the standard 50% - they can get equally value goods crafted for them by their NPCs.

Tag along NPCs (ie those who go on adventure rather than running the kingdom) would all want fair shares of any treasure found. And those left at home would probably expect 'hand me down' or less useful items as a reward for their efforts.

Personally, I count magic items given to minor NPCs as a BP investment in the country - at the 3000gp / BP rate. It certainly makes the NPCs a bit more personal that cashing all the unwanted treasure up and investing it that way.
