MoMS Redux

Homebrew and House Rules

So the MoMS (Master of Many Styles) monk archetype is absolutly brimming with awesome concept. But ive foudn it apparently fails hard in comparison to other things. It has largely been relegated by the playerbase it seems, as a 1 or 2 level dip for a fighter that "does it better"

imo that sucks, and was considering some changes, wondering what you guys think.

Offender 1-you lose flurry, and as such, lose full bab attacks. This is a issue for a class that cannot get around said issue easily like a rogue or assassin can. So why not make there bab there MoMS level while they are in a style?

Offender 2-a single combat feat trumps MoMS capstone feature. This is dumb, solution? MoMS gets that combat feat at level 4 (this factors into other changes as well) for free.

Offender 3-a MoMS currently at 20 can freely use 5 styles at once, thats good, but that requires 15 feats!!! if you take the whole line. This is my major change.

Change to offense 3-MoMS no longer gets bonus feats the way a regular monk does, instead they get them at 1, 4, 8, 15, and 20. each feat is actually 3 feats! you take the full feat path to a style at each of those levels, all 3, avoiding pre-requisites (aside from elemental fist).

This leaves a net gain in feats aquired that the MoMS monk desperately needs to really shine, this frees up the regular feats.

Certain issues, making it even stronger dip for fighter, gaining basically a slew of feats for 1 level. Perhaps a MoMS can only use his styles while unhindered similar to monks speed/AC bonus meaning a MoMS is a unarmored fighter always?

if nothing else i think the change to feats direction is worthwhile.

With your changes, Monk (MoMS) 4 / Fighter (Lorewarden) 3 will still be the goto build for Duelists. Not that they weren't PrC fodder before, of course...

meh, if someone wants to prestige class thats fine.

and really while the lack of full bab is annoying, ultimately...the only changes im really for is the feat change, and the combat style master feat addition to MoMS.
