I Have a Dream... [Little Red Racial Book]

Product Discussion

Hey guys!
Just a heads up. We will be launching our new book this Saturday! The topics covered in this one will be that of race & culture in fantasy settings.

Included in this book:
Introduction: Race & Culture in Constructed Worlds

  • Sample Cultures

    Prestige Classes
Magelord [Elf]: Part politician, part specialist mage with the unique "arcane cascade" mechanic.
Bladesinger [Elf]: Part magus, part arcane archer, part bard- all elven grace.
Emissary [Human]: A human who adopts elements of another race/faction in order to gain bonuses against their enemies.
Battlesmith [Dwarf]: He crafts, he fights, and he drinks (hopefully in that order). This presents unique options for crafting with materials (advanced alloys and the like).
Grudge Seeker [Dwarf]: When you think your wife holds a grudge, you've never meet a pissed off dwarf.
Alpha [Werewolf]: A feral, raging, pack leader who grants his allies rage bonuses.
Skysinger [Werewolf]: She sings for the sun and she sings for the moon, but when it's all done she's got your heart... and forces you to shift forms.

    Base Classes
Underhero [Halfling]: A fun little base class designed to be the "underdog". Not optimized for damage dealing but posed for those Tolkien fans who want to play the clever little hobbit.

    Race Mechanics Rewrite & Re-Imaginings
Grippli [Reimagining] [Mechanics Rewrite]: Lets face it, you ALWAYS wanted to play a blustering, adventurous, ripped, heroic, crazy little frog person.
High Dwarves (“Gustavin”) [Racial Subgroup]: Who wants to live in a smelly little cave when there are so many high gothic castles for sale?
Sahmeii [Subgroup]: Pert merfolk, part human, and all OGL.
Wild Elves (“Elva’stana”) [Subgroup]: They are not so much the "let's sing in the forest with out harps" kind of elves and more of the "lets wrestle that T-Rex before it eats us" kind of elves.
Centaur (“Mek Centid”) [Mechanics Rewrite]: Centaurs re balanced as a player race.
Ghost Elves ["Nef’liem"]: Soulless outcast elves who sought to avoid punishment by sleeping for 300 years.

    50+ New Racial Feats
    (By Christos “+5 Toaster” Gurd)

    Spoiler:

  • Sounds awesome! Can't wait to see the Battlesmith crafting options! :-)

Actually one of our designers, Dayton Johnson, was almost exclusively dedicated to fleshing out the various new options for that!

I decree that this book is now required to play this game...no I will not do a smiley face emoticon.

My feats were given a tough comb through, I think people will find them both clear and concise. Those familiar with them will find these new versions much more preferable for use around the table. Personally I am loving on these prestiges though, very spec-freaking-tacular.

Nice to see you turning up here Toasty. LRGG are one of my favorite 3PPs. You both have a good eye for talent...
Glad all the feat-thread stuff is getting a polish'n'package!

Hey guys! For those who didn't see it is up on DriveThru (Link).

It should be up on Paizo and d20PFSRD in the next day or two.

Hmm... I have to be honest, $6.99 seems a bit pricey to my taste. But that is probably because my group never plays with all the exotic races you have developed feats for, so I would be getting it almost solely for the new alloy-crafting bit.

Since this is the case, I will patiently wait for a review or two to learn more about the new crafting rules and hope that it sounds so awesome that I cannot resist getting the book strictly for that part.:-D

What makes the grippli in this different from the ones in the ARG?

They gave them much more flavorful abilities. I would describe them as more "heroic".

What are some examples? I'm a bit interested since they are a core race in my setting, but I'm unsure I want to buy a PDF for one thing.

The grippli presented in this PDF are a re-imagining of them as a race.

They have a fully stat block including the following racial traits:

  • +2 Dex, +2 Cha, -2 Str
  • Small
  • Fast Speed (30 ft)
  • Jumper
  • Hero's Heart
  • Strangers in a Strange Land

Thematically we re-worked them as being full of bravado, bluster, and and innate sense of heroics that often leads them to prove themselves against stronger foes.

We even had our artist Miguel do a picture of one for this book! This is actually how one of our home game runs them.

  • Interesting. Certainly a bit different in flavor than I have them, but I definitely like it. May have to pick it up :)

They have a distinct Quarian from mass effect feel to them, and that is not a bad thing.

I am genuinely surprised no one has asked about the werewolf stuff yet.

I'm just going to buy it, no questions need to be asked.
