Sale at Drive thru RPG and Frog God Games?

I was just wandering why FGG is not participating in the sale on all things PDF Pathfinder that is going on right now? I was SO prepared to buy The Slumbering Tsar AND Rappan Athuk :(

Hmm FGG... ??? Is there is a reason? :)

I can't speak for FGG, but the reason Legendary Games is not participating is because the sale was offered to publishers as an "all or nothing" arrangement. If you wanted to participate, it would be 40% all of your Pathfinder PDF products, no exceptions. DrivethruRPG already takes the largest distributor's cut of any of our vendors (though they were willing to reduce their cut closer to other vendors for the duration of this sale); it could be that FGG didn't like the way the numbers penciled out for them.

As for Legendary Games, we decided instead to participate in a different 40% off sale at d20pfsrd, as well as offering the same 40% discount on the Legendary Games website.

... Thanks for the information, Jason. Now I'll have to browse the D20PFSRD's store to see if they have the same pdfs up that I was eyeing over at Drivethru so that the developers can get more of their fair share of the profit.

I'm sure every publisher would be delighted to have more of your sweet, sweet money stay in their pockets! We're certainly happy to sell to the customers that shop DrivethruRPG, but when they charge almost double what shop.d20pfsrd.com does, it's clear which one we'd rather have them use if there's a choice(and in our case, we'd like it best if you bought directly from us).

The Exchange

I know from conversations with the frogs that yes, the terms of the DriveThruRPG sale were not to their liking, though to be fair, they chose not to participate in the 40% off Super Summer Sale going on in the d20pfsrd.com store right now also, but that's because they said they just did a major sale earlier in the month and having two high % sales in one month essentially eliminates any real profit, which is more than understandable from my perspective.

On a somewhat related note, not to blab too much about the d20pfsrd.com store but we're NOW offering Frog God Games PRINT products too so I know WE and THEY would love to see some of that sweet, sweet mulah that Jason mentioned above. I know for me personally I'd happily trade phat stacks of cash for the massive amounts of storage those books are taking up now! lol

Edit Corrected "not" to what I meant to say "now" lol

I can second that they just had a sale and I took advantage of it to add to my collection!

I expect it has more to do with just having a recent sale than the % drivehtru rpg takes.

I generally only do a sale on all our products twice a year, but I thought I would give Drivethrurpg a chance on this one as they were making a big effort.

Each site has its own ups and downs, but each one I use has its perks and I don't like handling direct sales as its too much logistics and I would rather concentrate on producing cool products.

I was honestly just hoping to take advantage of a sale when I had the money. I am kind of sad I can't take advantage of it with FGG. As that is the only one I wanted at this point and my limited funds could handle right now.

And they still haven't managed to include Pathfinder as a seperate rule system.

Jadeite,
If you are referring to Drive Thru RPG. They did make it so that Pathfinder RPG is a separate rules system. At least it was when I was there not to long ago.

Strange, for me at least that doesn't work. I can search for Pathfinder or PFRPG, but I can't select it in the system section.

If you take a look at the current sale, most of the books are under 'D&D/d20 3.x/d20/OGL'.

If you hit the arrow next to Rules System, Pathfinder is 7th from the bottom. Its between Mutants and Masterminds and RuneQuest.

For some reason, Pathfinder isn't listed in the german interface. Well, another reason to use the english one. That makes things easier, thanks.

There's a sale?

Yes. Many publishers, including Jon Brazer Enterprises (my company), Kobold Press and Rite Publishing have all of their Pathfinder products 40% off for this week. See the full listing of products on sale here.

A very similar sale is going on at d20PFSRD. Again, 40% off.

I plundered a bunch of stuff I wanted at DT, now I get paid tomorrow, and I'll have to do the same at D20pfsrd for those companies that didn't do the DT. Yay.

I really like stuff like this - I tend to buy lots of 2 and 3 dollar PDFs, but the 15 or 20 dollar ones I have a hard time talking myself into getting. When they are on sale, my brain relents. I finally picked up Midgard Campaign setting, and now I am hooked. :D

If you actually send an email to drivethrurpg about the issue they will probably get that corrected.

You're in luck! Most of the products we have on the d20pfsrd sale are usually 4.99 but are on sale at 2.99. You've got em right where you want em! Buy, BUY, BUYYYY!!!! :)

I took advantage and stocked up on a few pdfs at the end of the sale. Can always use stuff to throw in during the game.

Any one from FGG??

They're all busy at Paizo Con at the moment but I suspect as soon as they get a minute from all that gaming awesomeness one of them'll hop in here.

John is correct, we just had a big sale, so without cutting our own throats, it just didn't work out timing wise.
