I am going to start GM’ing some for PFS in the near future. For level appropriate GM credit, I will apply them to my druid. But if I start getting to many low level credits, I will need a new character to use them up. Not sure what to make, so looking for ideas. What I already have is half-elf sorcerer (celestial bloodline) concentrating on conjuration/summoning, dwarf inquisitor full plate and shield tank, half-orc magus whip/trip/disarm, and nagaji druid wildshape melee combatant. All are still <= 5th level. Home game has a human oracle of life undead blaster.
My first 2 ideas are least partially because I really don’t know much about them. Never played them and rarely seen them played.
My first thought was a summoner. The sorc is my first PFS PC and was built to summon powerful creatures. That was before I had the APG and knew about the summoner. So I’m not really happy with him. He’s not horrible, but not great. So I was thinking I could replace him with a summoner. But then I have 2 really similar PC’s since the sorc is still alive.
The other idea that has been bubbling is alchemist. Several of the most recent scenarios I have played, we got the crap kicked out of us by alchemist bombs. However, I am concerned that doing nothing but throw bombs will get boring after awhile. That is all I’ve seen from the few alchemists I’ve played with. If you try to specialize in bombs are you really going to have not much of anything else to ever do?
I usually get bored with purely martial builds. Especially the DPS machines. Even with big numbers I get tired of saying “I swing at it again.” I thought about maneuver master fighter, but that is pretty close to my magus.
Our local is overflowing with rogues and archer builds. So I don’t want those.
I don’t like bards and most of the players in my local don’t like paladins. So those are out.
Off and on I have been thinking about a monk, ranger, witch, or wizard. But I haven’t really come up with a build that trips my ‘gotta have that’ button. But if you folks have some unique builds that are not uber specialized one trick ponies, I would love to consider them.
So what other ideas you got for me?
