I tried to search the threads and didn't find an answer, and reading the Guide to PFS still left me wondering: can a medium character buy a small weapon (with the assumption that the weapon purchased can be used by the medium character)?
Thanks.
The Rules forum is the place you should be searching as this isn't PFS related.

Thanks guys, I just wanted to double check. There was something in the guide that mentioned "making purchases in your size" (or something like that, I don't have it in front of me), and I wanted to make sure I'm doing things right.
@Tim Vincent: since I'm asking about making purchases for PFS, it most certainly is PFS related. I'm sure this question would do fine in the rules section, but I know it's ok in a home game; I needed to make sure it's ok in a PFS game.
Thanks again.

I'm not asking about wielding weapons, I'm asking about buying weapons. Apparently you missed the part where I said I checked the guide but it was still unclear to me. Since this is something that PFS might do differently than the CRB, it is specific to PFS.
I'll quote the section that I'm referring to when I get home to clear up any confusion.

Oh sorry! When you asked
can a medium character buy a small weapon (with the assumption that the weapon purchased can be used by the medium character)?
I assumed you wanted to know if you can wield it in PFS. Cause of course you can buy it. Otherwise how would anyone complete their first few adventures.

I believe the section is this:
PCs can always buy weapons and equipment off their Chronicle sheets and the approved equipment lists for their size so long as their size is Small or Medium. Thus, if a Chronicle sheet offers a Small PC the opportunity to purchase a +1 frost longsword, she can always buy the +1 frost longsword at size Small.
Reading that, I can see some confusion as it is kinda legal-ese in its verbiage.
Hangar, still, the paragraph in the guide you want is:
Always Available items: All basic armor, gear, items, and weapons from Chapter 6 of the Core Rulebook, including Small and Large-sized items.
As you can see, purchasing small, medium and large items are all legal. So that should answer your question.
PFS DOES limit the basic run of the mill for weapon sizes purchases. You cannot purchase Huge size weapons all the time. (the paragraph seems to imply that you COULD given enough fame? But that may a topic for a different thread. No tiny lucern hammers for now either).

Tiny sized daggers are always available. They're listed in Ultimate Equipment under "sewing needle".

Yeah, I think those were the sections. They seem to imply that, while small, medium, and large "stuff" is always available for purchase (small and large PCs will always have something available), what is purchased must be sized for the character.
Regardless, the general consensus seems to be that it is ok for a medium character to buy a small sword (or something like that), so I'm good with that!
Thanks again.
