Does PFS allow Clerics that do not worship a deity

Rules Questions

The above and, if they do, how do they determine what domains a cleric can select. The rules say that you can choose to not have a deity and can select domains to represent you focus with GM approval (I am paraphrasing).

You have to have a deity, and you have to choose the domains associated with that deity. Not a fan of it myself. There is a section on religion in your guide to PFS play that outlines the rules for religion. In short, all divine casters(except the oracle) and cavaliers of the order of the star must have a deity and it must be within one step of their alignment.

Not only divine casters, but any feat or trait that is associated with a diety (such as spiked destroyer, gorum) requires that you worship that diety, and be within 1 step of their alignement.

The PFS "head GM" has just ruled that they want people to use the diety system. Probably to avoid people taking some combinations that are only allowed to evil characters and using the "no diety" to skirt around the no-evil alignement restriction for society play.

I can't really find any combos you can't get a diety to grant though, with the demon lords, empyreal lords, elemental lords, and several other optional mythos in print.

The downside of course, is that you may not like the deity you have to follow and you can't be an individual. For instance, before chronicles of righteous I went and looked up all the combinations for animal domain. I had 2 or 3 options outside of being evil, and the 2 or 3 options didn't have much depth or were all about a concept unrelated to the character.

Interesting, is there any deity that would allow you to choose the animal and travel domain.

Sun Wukong and Zarongel(My gosh... Poog from we be goblins! he could have both of those.)

Remember the Separatist archetype from Ultimate Magic. You can pick 1 of your 2 domains from outside your deity's portfolio, but treat your level, CHA, and WIS as 2 lower for that domain. Of course, that doesn't affect the movement bonus from the Travel domain...

Sczarni

I would suggest picking up the Inner Sea World Guide. It has a wonderful list of deities in addition to the CRB that are legal for PFS.

Everyone thanks. You guys were more than helpful.
