Druid Wildshape flight, Plummeting farther than 2,000 Ft.

Rules Questions

To my knowledge, the in-flight collision are as follows:

Quote:
If you are using wings to fly and you collide with an object equal to your size or larger, you must immediately make a DC 25 Fly check to avoid plummeting to the ground, taking the appropriate falling damage.

But in terms of falling, you can cast a spell if the fall is greater than 500 feet:

Quote:
A character cannot cast a spell while falling, unless the fall is greater than 500 feet or the spell is an immediate action, such as feather fall. Casting a spell while falling requires a concentration check with a DC equal to 20 + the spell's level.

Question 1: If a Druid in a medium sized form with a flying speed is flying 2,000 feet in the air fails a 25 DC collision check, does it fall for all 2,000 of those feet? Or can it make another save attempt after 500 ft? After 1,000 ft? Could it make one after 4,000 ft?

I bring this up because it seems to me that a collision does not necessarily make one stunned / incapacitated (Especially without any sort of Fort or Will save?) A creature who uses Bull Rush does not have to worry about being stunned I'm assuming?

At what point could a "Plummeting" creature, who is of sound mind and body, attempt another Flying check? This problem arose during an Airship-to-Airship combat encounter Roughly 3,000 ft above ground. It seems to me that a character falls at roughly 500-1000 ft per round in game (100 Ft per second). If that character is completely functional, could they make another check? If so, should that check be 25? Or 15 DC to Hover, or 10 DC to prevent fall?

Thank you for any help in this matter : D
