It's going to be weird when the cataclysm comes, everything is destroyed... and then some new races come out of nowhere and rebuild, bigger and faster. In one "round" they will be more advanced than their predecessors ever were.

    Does that mean kobolds get free advances in necromancy beyond what they discovered on their own just prior to the cataclysm?
