Mwangi Spearman build

Advice

Scarab Sages

I was messing around looking at artwork for character ideas and found a picture of a zulu warrior I really liked. I've worked up an 8th level build for a PFS character, trying to remain true to the artwork, and was interested in feedback/comments.

The intention is to take cornugon smash at 9th level, improved critical as the 10th level monk feat and spear dancer at 11th level.

I watched Zulu the other day and thought about making some Mwangi Warriors. You need to remember that there was basically 2 types of Zulu Warriors. Those who are the Head of the Bull formation and the Horns.

Head or chest are veterans and Horns utilized speed and youth.

How does this translate? The head or chest would probably have higher con and more defenses while the horns may get fast movement via monk or barbarian.

cool character, i like the concept. a few things i would change would be true strike>scorching ray (true strike + spear = achilles)

also why an adamantine spear? mithril would be a better choice, or cold iron.

you should invest in gloves of dueling once you hit 6th level

arcane strike is a no no. 1 you cant cast arane spell (slas dont count) and 2 its a waste of a feat. change it out for point blank or furious focus.

add in hamatula strike if you can fit it. its a weird feat but it would be a very good addition to your character.

I think you are right about true strike. It fits the concept better.

Adamantine is chosen because he can already use ki strike with his spear to break DR vs both silver and cold iron. Having a nearly unbreakable spear that bypasses hardness on most object is also nice.

At 6th level, gloves of dueling are nearly a characters entire WBL. Even at 8th level it is nearly 50% of WBL. It is not an item I would consider purchasing before 10th level, when it is still almost 25% of WBL.

Arcane strike is very legal on a Qinggong monk. As of the most recent FAQ, SLA's do meet the prereq.
