Throwing a spanner into the way some forums work (probably not all), but wouldn't it be a good idea to set up the forums so that comments could be voted up or down by everyone, and the highest total vote (upvotes - downvotes = total) on comments would appear closer to the top?

Could have an incredible effect on the quality of what we're looking at, especially in the rules and advice forums, especially where a comment has clarified something well.

That would also make it almost impossible to follow any coherent conversation, disconnecting replies from their parents even more (what, my reply is 3 pages _before_ what I replied too), and generally turn new comments into muck no-one sees.

People tend to expect chronological order out of conversations.

I would be FOR a "to next Paizo post", "to next favorited post", ... links, though.

I predict someone is going to mention that this is going to shatter coherent conversation sooner or later.

I have to admit that TOZ's post upthread is something to consider though.

I flagged both of TOZ's posts. Stuff like that belongs in a different forum.

Making some use of crowdsourced metadata to help improve navigation and content discoverability is something we do want to do, but we're not planning on doing any sort of karma or up/downvoting system.
