Cleric of Abadar (Lvl 10) - Need some help!

Liberty's Edge

Hey guys,
For a campaign I'd like to play mentioned Cleric.
Basically my Character will be an Aasimar (standard Heritage) and worship Abadar, selecting the Travel and Nobility Domain.

I would like to play him as Caster and/or Channeler, so the Bonus to Wisdom and Charisma is handy. As a Caster I want to support and generate battlefield control, or let's say buff and debuff.

My problems here are the following:
- What to do with the cohort? (should be Lvl 8 I guess)
- What stats would you buy with PB 20?
- What feats are the ones to take?
- How to use Standard Action when not casting, channeling and use Domain stuff? (Cause I think, STR will be kinda low, same for DEX)

Greetings and thanks in advance!
Naz

1. Whatever the DM allows.

2. For a caster? Str 13, Dex 10, Con 12, Int 13, Wis 16, Cha 13

3. What feats? What exactly do you want to do with your casting? BE offensive? Defensive? Buff? What's the rest of your party like?

4. You're a caster. You cast. When not casting you find something that supports your group in other ways such as providing flakning bonuses. Low strength is not as big as a detriment as you might believe at first. With the buffs you throw around the extra +2 or +3 you won't have from strength won't be noticed all that much when you do decide to pop into melee and start laying waste.

Okay, my stats I assumed at first looked like that:

STR: 7
DEX: 12
CON: 14
INT: 12
WIS: 16 (+2 Race, +2 Level)
CHA: 14 (+2 Race)

What is the reason for your picks?

First, what is BE offensive?^^

I think I cant really decide here. With high Wisdom saves are also okay. So offensive stuff will work, or? Otherwise there are always some buffs that are fine, so I'd like to cast them, too...
In the end, I want to gain advantage by weaken enemies and boost my party by modifying stats, not by dealing damage (or healing).
Well, and the party setup is unclear.
Also with high CHA, channel is an option. Maybe Selective Channel will do fine?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

For the Cohort, I thought about an Archeologist Bard. He wont provide buffs via performance, but gains useful stuff for Knowlegde and Disable Device, also good amount of Skillpoints for that.
The spells are still fine and can also boost the parties utility by taking spells like "comprehend languague" or "detect secret door" - perfectly fitting for an Archelogist, by the way.
Then maybe give him Flag Bearer feat.

It was a typo I meant whether or not you wanted to have offensive casting in mind.

Also channeling at level 10 is a joke. Honestly I would have switched out dex with cha and have ten cha. It's really that meaningless by this level. At most it's a topper for when your party has taken some damage for after combat healing. It saves charges off your wand or spares a few low level spells. That's really it. It's a laughable counter to the sort of damage and spells that get tossed out by that level.

Beyond that 13 strength means taking powerattack is entirely a viable option for you. And if you do switch out dex and cha it opens you up for combat reflexes as well. Combined with a longspear (or glaive if you're of Shelyn's faith) it gives a fairly good "stay away from me" defense especially if you drop righteous might or divine power on yourself.

Remember that blessing of fervor and prayer affect you as well as your allies so in a sense you're self buffing your offense.

Now in terms of offensive spellcasting clerics don't have a lot of options. Most of them are touch based. So, my thinking is Spell Storing Longspear and Spell storing cestus. Keep the longspear charged with offensive spells or debuffs like Bestow Curse or Inflict Serious Wounds. So after your initial buffing rounds you can walk up and poke someone with your spear. (you can also use a reach metamagic rod for this). The cestus should have somethign a bit more sudden like Hold Person or anythign of that mature to add to your defensive capabilities.

In rounds where you can't reach people with your spear or other spells or simply don't have the hp to poke your head out like that you can spend time instead recharing your spellstoring weapons, buffing, using your inspiring word ability, or if no one else is around to recieve the heal just channel.
