So here is my situation. I have an orc horde (Colossal) going about destroying everything in its path. The PC are gathering armies to fight it. I thought this would be cool to try out the new rules. However, looking at them, after the PC gather the armies, because they are going to be made up of smaller armies of all different races, even thought they outnumber the orcs, they are going to get slaughtered. This is because you can not combine armies that are different.
The smaller armies are not going to be able to hurt the horde, and the horde will be wiping them out one at a time, even if they are working together.
Thoughts?

What are the ACRs of the various armies? There's a brief mention on pg. 237 of 3 ACR 6 armies collectively being a threat to a single larger ACR 9 army. Maybe you can combine the ACRs of the smaller armies and come up with an effective ACR (and associated combat stats), and then apply that coalition against the larger army in a single mass battle?

The mass combat system is... let's say very basic and abstract.
It's like the kingdom building rules:
If you want to use it more often, you have to adjust and modify it to fit to your game style.
SO if you want to use it, I would suggest to take a look at the Kingmaker forum, there are some posts which deal with the Mass Combat System, improving and fix it. :)
P.S.: Only have the KM Version of them yet, not the UC ones, so maybe this changed
