Alchemical silver (and other materials) and sundering

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

I've seen on the boards (cant race back where) stated that HP is simply taken into account for objects other than weapons/armor and that for those you use stats provided in the Table Common Armor, Weapon, and Shield Hardness and Hit Points LINK.

Hardness seemed more of a consensus. You have an adamantium sword ? Hardness 20. Alchemical silver sword ? Hardness 8.

But my question arises as this :

Adamantium is noted as giving the property : Objects made of adamantium have 1/3 more hit points (multiple refenreces). But adamantium objects can only be objects that are made of iron first (a sword for example).
Iron has 30hp/inch. Adamantium 40hp/inch. In my sense there is the 1/3 more HP.

Therefore shouldn't we calculated the HP of an alchemical silver sword as 1/3 of it's steel counterpart ? Thus giving a longsword with hardness 8 and 1 hp (rounddown) ?

Thanks in advance for any help !

Silver Crusade

On a related note.

Does the enhancement bonus provided by mastercrafting a weapon (or armor) apply to its hardness and hit points ?

Actually no

Adamantine Description

Mined from rocks that fell from the heavens, this ultrahard metal adds to the quality of a weapon or suit of armor.

Its actually said to be Extra Hard

Alchemical silver

By Description it actually makes a weapon Weaker as far as Damage but does not alter the Hardness

Now once you start adding pluses the HP and Hardness will Rise

Alchemical Silver is 10 HP per Inch

It is actually not referenced as a Counterpart to steel.

You are basically losing HP For the weapon because you are not using a Strong material you are combining a weaker one with a Strong one.

At least that is how I understand it.

Silver Crusade

If a sword is made from mithral or adamantium it gains the new metal's hardness (15 and 20 respectively)...no ?

In the case of adamantium objects made of it have 1/3 more HP (it is said explicitly) and I gather it is from the 40/inch instead of 30/inch for iron and mithral.

So you are saying that for alchemical silver, since it is mixed with steel, it's only effect is on damage and hardness/hp of the weapon is untouched ?

The stats given for alchemical silver would be for doors, or other objects made of it ?

Correct, it states that is a Coating or mixed into the metal...

So its like taking a Piece of Iron and laying a coat of Silver on it Still strong like iron with a Shiny finish...

Silver Crusade

Ok ! Thanks !
