Has anyone tried to stat up skags from Borderlands? I think that could be a fun aberration for PCs to run into. Would it be an aberration because of the tentacle tongue and the triple-mandibled mouth? Or a magical beast because of the armor plating? Or just a regular animal? I'd like to use them in an upcoming campaign.

I would say animal. Nothing magical or special about them, but they definitely stand out as being a strange animal. They also don't seem like the strong will type to me, nor do they have an alien anatomy, and they are very mundane. 10 foot reach tongue attack like a giant toad, make an acid spitting variant, and possibly give them a few overrun feats. I don't have any stats of my own though.

I'd go animal, looking at it from a Pandoran perspective. Like how animals on other worlds can be very alien in nature but are still just animals(see the recent Triaxan bestiary in The Frozen Stars).
The "elemental-type" skags could probably be handled with templates that would apply to any other Pandoran animals, possibly making htem magical beasts.
As bizarre as they may seem from an Earth perspective, skags are still very much natural creatures. The Destroyer on the other hand...
Whatever the case, they would definitely have to be noted for frequently containing treasure, given their eating habits. ;)

Because they are CR1 and skags are some of the first things you fight in borderlands? Also, same basic size, shape and attacks.
As I said, apply templates as needed. Giant increases their size which can give them reach. I said modify fiendish to go with elements instead. My suggestion would be give resistance to whatever element they are (shock for example) instead of the listed ones for fiendish. Then remove the smite/good and replace with a ranged touch element attack as appropriate.
Do you think a basic skag should be CR20 or something?

Meh. I like creating things from the ground up. Easier to get everything right than applying templates, to me anyway. Besides it's fun. Skags are always considered a threat on Pandora, along with any other wildlife that isn't a trash feeder. So I figure just make them and modify as I need it for the campaign.
