Bard Magic Items: Some Suggestions

Advice

So I'm looking for some suggestions of magic armor and arms for my melee bard in a Jade Regent game. I was trying to think of something beyond making my +1 chainshirt into a +2 chainshirt, so any cool suggestions that fit well with the bard would be good. I'm also looking for Wondrous Item suggestions, but not as much :)

I recommend a mithral breastplate. There is a slight proficiency issue, but the penalty is only -1, it counts as light for your spell casting and such though, and gives 2 more AC over the chain shirt, for the same or cheaper price.

How about a buckler? Get AC when you need it, cast or fight when needed, etc.

I'm a fan of straight up AC for a Bard as enchantments on armor and shield.

For weapons, I'd say stick with +s except maybe for a single energy type for the d6 damage to blow through DR when needed, if melee will be your plan.

Circlet of Persuasion (it takes a different slot than headband of cha, I think) is great. Also, it boosts your concentration checks, which is a nice hidden benefit.

Good examples, although I do have the Circlet of Persuasion. I had no idea it increased concentration checks. Yes it does take a different slot than the Headband luckily.

I've got a masterwork buckler and a +1 chainshirt at the moment. Once we leave the arctic, I'll be able to look for a mithril breastplate. In the meantime, I also have a +1 cold iron morning star I clobber things with that I found. It's done me well so far, but I'm still wondering if I should get a higher crit weapon for Improved Crit. Like a rapier *shrug*.

Keem em coming though, I can dig it.

It's actually a contested issue. Some agree, some don't. The more general consensus is that if it did, the price should be higher as it's quite the nice ability to have, and there wasn't anything similar for Int/Wis-based casters.

Well, the benefit to Int/Wis casters is that their casting stats are actually used for things. :p
