I'm just starting to delve into The Skinsaw Murders and as I am reading I realized that the PC Aldern is obsessed with died during the party's first encounter with Ripnugget.
My only workaround for this is to play off that Aldern was actually obsessed with someone else and their memories are just fuzzy. Does anyone have something more plausible than that?
I didn't get too much sleep last night and my brain isn't running at 100% right now, hah.

Have Aldern hate the other PCs for letting his obsession die. And have him raid the grave. They get to find the PC's corpse, covered with mold, in the underground with Aldern.
For extra horror points, after they rebury him or her, have the body reanimate because of the mold. ;)
Tangent has a good idea. For the notes that Aldern leaves, I would suggest coming up with a different note for the first one more in line with this. Then use the wrath notes for the rest, addressing them to the remaining original PCs.

I hope other DMs that encounter this same problem find this thread and heed your advice. Awesome.
We ended up with it being an 'obsession triangle' with Aldern lustfully obsessed with Shayliss and enviously obsessed with the rather heroic PC whom had gotten involved with her. Had that situation come up, we would have had a back-up, so to speak.
As an aside - please be careful about putting spoilers in the title line of new threads.
