CoT game coming up.

Advice

Got a line on an upcoming game, and I'm not sure what to run with here.

Council of thieves
15 pt buy
All paizo material
3pp at DM approval.
No super dump stats please.
No pure casters
3 traits, one must be a CoT trait.
6 players, no foreknowledge of their builds.

5 lvl build, what would you play?

Silver Crusade

Bard, Rogue, Oracle, Sorcerer. That would also make a really good group for the AP. Covers combat with bard and rogue, divine caster oracle, arcane caster sorcerer.

This is one adventure path where you can not have enough party faces. As it takes place in a city. Along with the fact every one needs Cha at a mini to complete one adventure of the AP.

Grand Lodge

Well, you already know what I would play.

John Smith, and his totally awesome Horse.

I have not started yet though.

For you, I suggest Inquisitor.

I think that the "no pure casters" nixes the oracle and sorceror.

I was thinking about a dervish of dawn bard/ trapper ranger, but the potential to try out a 3pp class is intriguing me as well.

Show me your inquisitor BB. (Please and thank you)

Grand Lodge

Being Social, and Stealthy, are key.

Dwarven Heretic Inquisitor with the Heresy Inquisition will do this.

For cool factor, be Neutral(or NE), and have Szuriel as a patron.

How would you build it though?

Grand Lodge

Str16 Dex12 Con12(14) Int10 Wis14(16) Cha7(5)

If you decide to go Irori instead, and use a reach weapon, then nab the Wisdom of the Flesh trait, and use wisdom for Stealth.

Any other suggestions?

3rd party class for council of theives? I would offer you the super genius games Vanguard. Its a charisma based fighter mage mix with descent (4+int) skills and makes for a really good blaster with its vangaurd blast ability.

A 15-point buy character in a social campaign. So you'll probably want at least one of Int or Cha. Both is unaffordable, since that would cost you too much in the way of saving throws and/or armour class and/or fighting ability.

How about a Lore Warden (fighter archetype)? Int/Dex and base 4/level is good for skills as well as your armour class. Get a decent Con and don't dump Wis.

Go scimitar, ditch strength (you don't even need it to carry armour, after all). Tiefling would be a good fit for both campaign theme and efficiency. You could fit in duelist as well, if you wanted. I'd probably avoid the MoMS variation, as I do not think you have the points for a good wisdom (and monasteries in Cheliax aren't fun places, being exclusively Asmodeus-controlled).

Alternatively: half-elf, grab a Fauchard with your alternate racial trait, and focus on Combat Reflexes/Trip. From what I hear, it's a campaign heavy on the humanoids, so for once combat maneuvers might be a good idea. Of course, in that case you will need strength, but with reach the armour class is less of a critical issue - you can probably afford to drop Int a few points.

Vanguard sounds good, but I don't have access to it.

Cheap, and effective for the Heretic Dwarf, a Mask of Stony Demeanor will make you a dang good stone-faced liar.

Later, get the Creeping added to some Full Plate, and no one will hear your sneaky tank coming.

Ok, starting to get some feedback from the other players, and it looks as if we may be short a healer, if so, I am going to jump on that grenade; but I want to have a fun character. Any ideas?

BBT: weren't you toying with a halfling nature oracle as one of your theoretical "John Smith" builds?

Healer, and fun?

A paladin.

Any well-roleplayed cleric.

A cleric off Asmodeus who insists on making sure that the party pays their health insurance premiums beforehand.

An oracle of Desnatrying to raise a rebellion in Westcrown

I think paladin is out. I'm told that it will be difficult to reconcile between the lesser of two evils as a paladin...

Ok, cleric duties are covered, so I get to play a Battle Scion and use the Vanguard archetype I created for it!

Human 15 pt buy
Str: 16
Dex: 13
Con: 12
Int: 14
Wis: 12
Cha: 8

1) fast learner, improvisation
2)
3) imp improv
4) +1 dex
5) combat ref

Grand Lodge

Actually, the "John Smith" ending up being a Scion of Humanity Aasimar.

The feats and favored class bonuses were too good to go another way.

You guys were really going to let me go outside ,in this weather, dressed like that (feat selection) ?!?! For shame, guys!

I'd really advise a bard for this campaign. You'll have a blast.

The party consists of a bard, wizard, barbarian, cleric, battle scion (me), and 1 other.

I think I will go with fast learner, combat ref, and power attack for starters.

Are not the Cleric and the Wizard pure casters?

I thought you said "no pure casters"?

That was for me... No pure casters for me... I suck at ultimate power...
