I dunno. Less threatening? Looks cool. I just have this image of him moving back to back with the rest of the group. He reaches back and pulls ornately carved stick with the smoothed sphere at the top as shadowy figures swarm around the group. A quick jerk of the wrist and a spring action click sound, 16 wickedly pointed and multi colored spikes (different metals rendition fantasy) flick out of the ball at the end. He charges forward at the nearest throng of enemies as the camera fades to black.
Realistically, its mostly flavor.

Early fall.
Climate- balmy subtropical. Rather subject to extreme weather conditions in the winter and summer.
Not really environment. More like what kind of shops are around. Where everything is. Where our houses are and that kind of thing. I mostly new help with a back story.
Other than coming from the golarion equivalent of the emerald isles he needs full back story.
Plus need to put final touches on the magic item.

That's kind of situational. It does nothing unless hit with elemental damage of a specific type. It would be useful the few times it might happen but not worth 500 for something that might not happen at all.

A plus one enchantment is 2000.
Another plus one enchantment is another 2000.
An actual plus two enchantment is what costs 8000.
It wouldn't double just because there is one more thing to it.
