I forwarded two panel ideas: Gamer Girls Unite! and Gamer Girls Design! One is just to talk about the problems women face in joining the hobby and how we can overcome them. The other is to talk to women game designers about how they got in the business, and it provides you an opportunity to learn from those doing what you want to do: writing games.
Btw, these aren't "anti-male" panels--I happen to really love guys (and even married one)! These are just opportunities for women's voices to be heard. Men are certainly welcome and encouraged to attend. Breaking down barriers takes all of humanity, after all.

Not different in topic so much, certainly. Freelancing is freelancing, after all.
However, many women are afraid to speak up in public or are frequently drowned out by deeper voices. I think women may be more willing to ask questions of other women, making the atmosphere a little less stressful for those with wanting to ask burning questions. It might also be good to talk to women who have achieved some of the things they want to achieve. Why not give other women some visible role models (if you will allow that stretch in my case. ;-)).
Anyway, we frequently see all-male panelists at these "how to freelance" panels, and I want to change up that standard, as I personally want to see more women become freelancers. For some, it's more than a battle of ability: it is a battle with self-doubt. It's often a bit to overcome, but it can be done.
I don't know if anyone will show up to the panel, but it is something I want to offer.
