Bless Water / Consecrate Errata

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

I don't really know where to post this, so I'll post this here.

My girlfriend and I just spent the last hour arguing (discussing?) the rules mechanics behind spell casting and how the rules are written. The party is trying to gather together the necessary components out in the field to cast a Bless Water and a Consecrate, which is hilarity in and of itself.

Anyway, my girlfriend, who does not play Pathfinder, pointed out the aggrivating difference between the component requirements for Bless Water and Consecrate, and that if they end up being the same thing (5 lbs of silver dust worth 25 gp, or 250 sp), then why are they written differently?

So, in some future printing of the Core Rulebook, she wanted to know if they could be printed the same way, since they mean the same thing. I say they should remain the same so other nerds can have lively discussions with their signifcant others!

Keep in mind, PF is not a legal document. It was ported from 3.5. All together it has been developed by different people over 13 years. Everyone writes things their own way and there is little benefit to re-writing everything.

One calls for powdered silver because the author thought it would be cool to do it that way.
