Beguiling Gift and Cursed Items

If an NPC Witch wanted to use the Beguiling Gift spell to trick a PC into taking and using a cursed item, would she be able to? Or would she be cursed to hang onto the item herself now that she had touched it?

I'm pretty sure you need to use a cursed item for it to stick to you--otherwise, they'd all just be attached to their creators. The witch could give a cursed item to a PC with beguiling gift as long as the witch didn't use it first.

Give them a Beserking Sword, or Girdle of Opposite Gender.
