Fighter build questions, bonus points if you've read / played the Witcher.

Homebrew and House Rules

Hey guys, I was hoping I could get some expert advice. I'm playing on Saturday, and I've agreed to play a human fighter. I'll be level 1 so I can't do everything off the bat, but I'd like to basically make a Witcher.

For those who don't know, a Witcher is basically a wandering monster hunter for hire. Main focuses being super agile, 2h or bastard sword style, big focus on alchemy, and a handful of spells. I'm willing to hold off on the spells, so as not to spread too thin.

Basically here's my problem, I always come up with off the wall character concepts, but I'm not too familiar with the mechanics, so they're underwhelming in combat.

Any tips from the experts on how to do this and be able to hold my own in combat? Most important bits in order are 1.) Super mobile, 2h sword style, 2.) focus on alchemy, 3.) maybe spells at some point, not essential.

Thank you if you read all this. It's early so it may not have made any sense. =)

Some questions:
1: when you say agile and mobile, what are the musts?
Low ACP?
High acrobatics?
Light armor, high dex AC?
2: what kind of focus on alchemy?
Makes potions of CLW?
Makes himself stronger/agile?
Makes bombs?
3. What kind of spells?
Destructive?
Buffing?
Healing?

Give us a better look at what you want exactly with those three things and I could help you.

Go Ranger, take 2H style and Heart of the Fields alternate racial trait (for the 1/2 level bonus to craft Alchemy), find something that trades the animal companion for something else.

EDIT: Try a Freebooter Infiltrator. Talk to your DM about how adaptation would work with the Freebooter's Bane ability.

Remember that Craft(Alchemy) can create Fuse Grenades and such.

I've seen a thread about this, it seems that the alchemist class actually works pretty well for this.

Yeah, Alchemist Mutagens work pretty well for the Witcher. If you want to emphasize combat more, I think Fighter/Alchemist or Ranger/Alchemist are pretty viable options. I would start level 1 with the full BAB class unless the party already has a lot of beatsticks, though.
