Do you need to sleep if...

Rules Questions

Hi All,

My question is hopefully a straight forward one. The Martial Artist (Archetype) at 5th level gets "Extreme Endurance" which states the Martial Artist is immune to fatigue. Does that mean the character can go without sleep and incur no penalty?

Thanks in advance!

No, it just means they are immune to the 'fatigued' condition.

A character that tries to walk for more 8 hours between sleep cycles still has to make CON checks. If a character hustles for more than 1 hour between sleep cycles they still take subdual damage.

Note that a hustle is defined as double moving, or taking a standard or move action while moving. Basically, a character only has 600 rounds of taking two actions per turn before they need to rest or start taking damage.

This is something you'll want to bring up with your GM. While the rules allow you to not gain the fatigued condition, the human(oid) brain requires 'downtime' to stay in shape. So, if you go more than 2 or 3 days without sleep, you might start experiencing some sort of other penalties. Mental stat ability damage or penalties would be most appropriate.

You would still need to rest to heal damage naturally or to heal ability damage (unless you have a magical method to heal).
