Painted Minis for Purchase?

I have been looking around online and in local stores for some painted minis (plastic or pewter) and I'm just having a hard time finding ones that I actually want, but mainly because there just aren't that many I can find.

Ideally I would like a gnome rogue/thief with a dagger/sword and a cloak/cape.

I lack the creative skill to paint one so it will look decent so I'm hoping you guys have some ideas as this site and reaper minis I couldn't locate what I wanted, especially painted.

Have any friends that can paint? I have a game called Talisman that I got back in the early 1980's when the minis were pewter not plastic like they are today. I can't paint either, but I found a friend who could.

I have no clue on painted minis. Warhammer 40k used to show online how to paint minis, but I'm not sure if they still do.

You've either got to buy prepainted plastics or hire someone to paint them for you (or ask someone nicely and hope they are willing to donate the time and materials for free).

I have a friend who we trade minis for painting work. I have bought him several minis and he has painted mine for me. This way his collection grows and I get painted minis for far less than the "professional" painters would charge for the quality of work I get. It works out for both of us. :-)

For years I was the painter for my group of friends and players, worked always out by providing me with paint/brushes/basing material in exchange for mini work. From time to time they'd all thrown in on a large mini for me in lieu of the typical materials.

I'd recommend you ask around at your local game store. Forums are great and all, but there is something to be said for being able to look a person in the eyes when dealing with them when it comes to your minis, lol
