Libertarians and conservatives, can we agree that it should be illegal to market kid guns?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

This was a failure in parenting, not the fault of manufacturer. Children who are taught proper firearm safety/handling at a young age, are more likely follow those same standards as they grow older. The child having a rifle that was "theirs" is not the problem, that he was allowed unrestricted/unsupervised access to the firearm is the problem.

No.

The thing has a listed length of 30 inches. I think that would be a little big in the hands of a 5 year old, so its probably intended for kids that are a bit older than that.

Graywulfe is correct.

The article clearly states that the rifle was kept in a corner and that the parents did not realise it was still loaded.

Poor gun safety habits & poor parenting skills, resulting in a dead child.

The Exchange

5 is a little too young. at 9 or 10 oh yeah more kids should have them AFTER being taught how to deal with them.

I do find the design of the rifles a little... Off.

They look more like toys then weapons, which is not the design space a rifle should be in.

Also, for a young child, I would probably have designed the action with an almost obnoxiously large and apparent loaded chamber indicator.
