RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I'm a fan of Norse Myth, but I don't own the setting at this time. I'm afraid my contributions would not be properly flavored from that standpoint. I saw the title and had to chime in. Obscure Norse gods are always fun to give more attention to.

Strictly speaking, only about 1/8 of the setting is Norse-derived, though that is one of the most popular regions.

The PDF is pretty affordable, and there is a free preview.

The question is, do you intend to remedy that? :)

Hello again Oceanshieldwolf! I would like to contribute some articles and possibly some artwork at a later date. What is the theme for the first issue or is there one? Once I find out that from you, I'll probably PM you a sample article or piece of artwork so you can see if it looks satisfactory to you. And just for the record, Ygdrassil is awesome for a name! So long as there's no linnorm gnawing at it's roots, anyway :).

Sounds good TSP - nice to hear from you again...! Yep send me a PM!

As for a theme, yes, there will be a theme, I've a few in mind, but I'll wait for a bit on that...

Here's an idea -- how about simply The World Tree?...

That is a great idea Amanda, and your reasoning both sound and well presented.

I've designed a bunch of Celtic/Nordic "world tree" motifs in my 20 years as a screenprinter - one I will be using for my imprint - Forest Guardian Press (the blurb of which sans art can be found in the Paizo Compatibility Register) and the other I'm wanting to use for the fanzine as part of the style guide if I go with Yggdrasil. Which at this stage is looking very likely.
I do like "The World Tree", and I think it might have a little more ease/traction, but "Yggdrasil" has just a little more personal resonance for me, and a flaming funerary boatload more kewl!!! Plus, I can't wait to try out some typographic/font designs for writing that!!! Perhaps a logo competition.... Kidding ;)

As long as we're clear that Yggdrasil is an ash-tree... ;)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

@ Aelryinth: I may be slightly biased, but I consider Northlands to be an absolute must-have for any fan of Norse myth - one of my favorite supplements...EVER. And my no.1 product of 2011, for what it's worth. Just in case you missed that one!

Cheers!
