Is anyone a lvl. 17 Pathfinder?

So, has anyone reached this lofty goal?

I’ve looked at the modules that are PFS sanctioned and once a player is done with his lvl. 11 adventures, which means his career is over at lvl. 12 a player can play the following:

Ruby Phoenix Tournament 10-12 (if completed I assume you can reach lvl. 13)

Academy of Secrets 12-14 (if completed I assume you can reach lvl. 14)

Tomb of Iron Medusa 13-15 (if completed I assume you can reach lvl. 15)

Moonscar 15-17 (if completed I assume you can reach lvl. 16)

Witchwar Legacy 16-18 (if completed I assume you can reach lvl. 17)

So, it appears that you currently can reach level 17, as a Pathfinder Society Member. Therefore I’m wondering if anyone has attempted to reach this lofty goal and succeeded. Are any of you among the Pathfinder Elite?

Is a higher level possible, with some Convention playing?

Just wondering.

Mr Baird has an excellent post on the subject here.

I believe I have heard rumblings of a group that is level 18

You can play rise of the runelords. Dont remember if the level range for the high level parts would allow you to get to higher than 17.

All your list seems to be missing is the Eyes of the Ten arc, and the later portions of the legal adventure paths (which are 13th - 18th level).

Presently you can get a character as high as 19th level with the two 16th-18th level adventure path mods.

My groups mains are sitting at 16th level right now while we work on getting a few lower level characters some play so we have some options for cons and such. Once we're happy there it's moonscar, witchwar, and rise of the runelords part 6 to 19th.

We played Eyes of the Ten at 12th level, hitting 13.2 at that scenario arc's conclusion.
We played Race for the Rune Carved Key at the 12+ Tier, hitting 14th level.
We're scheduled to play Academy of Secrets shortly, bringing us to 15th.

So, no, we're not yet 17th level, but yes, I do believe it is possible to reach levels even higher than that.

There are a group of Sacramento Players who are some of the earliest PFS players, and they are currently 18 (or at least they were a month ago).

I actually ran them through Race for the Runecarved Key last year at Pacificon when they were 15s, and we had a blast.

That is all. :-)

So what do those guys buy at those levels? Is it a lot of +5 INT/WIS/CHA/DEX/CON/STR tomes to up their stats to demi-godly levels? Are any of them wearing Headbands of Mental Perfection +6 INT/WIS/CHA and a +5 tome for a total of 25-30 in those stats?

Must be pretty sick, to be that bada__. (sick = awesome)

I killed three of them last year at Pacificon, so I don't really know what you're talking about. :-)

Was this killed, perma-death or killed, get me a Raise Dead spell, kinda killed?

Breath of Life works wonders. But technically they were dead. :-)

You might actually be surprised, it doesn't always go quite as far as you might want. If you are curious you can click on my sig and see what I did with the monk at 16th level. I focused on cooking up his AC, CMD, and saves, so skipped out on the tome. Our groups gunslinger has a 35 Dex, Oracle a 35 Cha, Cleric a 32 Wis, and 2hd Fighter a 34 Str though. They all sprung for the +5 tomes.

So, did any of them have INT/WIS/CHA in the 25-30 range?

Isn't AC based on WIS for monks? Wouldn't a +4 or +5 WIS tome, increase all those bonuses for you?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Level 20 is technically possible.

Eyes of the Ten (5 xp total from all 4 scenarios): 12 -> 13.66
Academy of Secrets (3 xp): 13.66 -> 14.66
Tomb of the Iron Medusa (3 xp): 14.66 -> 15.66
Moonscar (3 xp): 15.66 -> 16.66
Witchwar Legacy (3 xp): 16.66 -> 17.66
Rise of the Runelords Book 6 (3 xp): 17.66 -> 18.66
Shattered Star Book 6 (3 xp): 18.66 -> 19.66
Race for the Runecarved Key (1 xp): 19.66 -> 20

Dark Archive 3/5

Race for the runecarved key is available for 12-15th levels, if I remember correctly.

Sure. The issue is just that tomes are less cost efficient for AC than item upgrading. He'll get his tomes by 19th level, but for now he gets better mileage per gp on items than tomes.

Race is actually 12+, unlimited

The new season 5 special however is only up to 15

Oh, I totally agree. So you're just holding off on it for now, is all.

BTW, how come you haven't gone for the +6 upgrade to your STR for your belt. (It only shows a +6 DEX belt) Do monks not get an STR bonus to fist damage? Sorry, I know its a dumb question but I don't play monks, so I'm not sure.

If he somehow got the agile property applied to his unarmed strikes then he adds his dex bonus to damage instead of strength. Or maybe he's using an agile monk weapon.

Edit: I think I've heard of people getting an agile amulet of mighty fists, but that sounds strange as it is a weapon property.
Nevermind, amulet of mighty fists can apply weapon properties, just looked it up so yea he probably has one.

As Robert Matthews 166 correctly assumed, I threw agile on his amulet of mighty fists, which allows him to use dex for damage. So str is completely irrelevant to his melee capability.

He has 335,000 gp coming to him from moonscar, witchwar, and runelords 6. That will probably get spent on upgrading bracers to +8, amulet to +4, and a +4 dex and wis tome. So yeah, the tomes are coming, they just weren't the most effective buy yet was all.
