Is the breaking of links intentional?

Website Feedback

Are the extra spaces that the messageboard sticks into web addresses intentional, or is something broken? Because it's very annoying to try and follow a link (or to post a working one) and have to try and manually fix the changes in order to do so.

If you mean links that are included using the [url] tags, those should not get mangled. If you mean links that are just pasted directly into the body of a post, yes, it's an anti-page-widening measure.

I didn't even realize that there are [url] tags. I'm used to browsers either recognizing urls in text automatically or at least being able to right click on them to open in a new tab without being explicitly created links. At least now I can fix any that I've posted.

At some point we will be revising our messageboards parsing code and we might add auto-linking of pasted URLs at that point, but it's kind of down on the todo list at the moment.

That would be great, but I would say having clickable buttons which insert matching tags around the cursor (or selected text), so users don't have to type out each set of tags, would be higher up the priorities of enhancing usability. Or WYSIWYG editing which doesn't even have tags in the user-visible editing window, but the former seems a less drastic change to implement.

Actually, just replace the Paizo forums with Discourse. More info here.

Don't think discourse is ready for production, but I'd love to see a stack overflow section for rules questions anyway.
