I'm a new GM in PFS and just had a question about how to mark boons on chronicle sheets and didn't notice an answer anywhere and now it's bothering me that I may mess up players' chronicle sheets (even though they are all local players who play with me weekly).
I've noticed some chronicle sheets have a check box next to the boon while others don't and I've noticed boons of both sorts have written into the text that once used, the boon gets crossed off. So my question is do the check boxes get checked if the players earn the boon or is that check to mark that the player has already used the boon?
I understand that the boon gets crossed off if not earned, but the rest doesn't seem specified. One of the best examples is the second part of First Steps. This might not even be as big of an issue as I'm making it and it might just be my OCD, but I would appreciate clarification.

If the player did not get the boon, I cross it off.
If the player earned the boon and there is no check box, I leave it as-is.
If there is one check box I will circle the boon so it is clear the player earned the boon.
If there are multiple check boxes, I leave it as-is.
Those boons with only one check box are ... confusing.

heck, as a player, I normally mark thru a with a line of big "XXXX" and the note "USED IN CR #14" so that I can tell when I've used them. In fact, I don't think I've ever had a judge mark one out - or even check for that matter.
I think 98% of chronicle sheet info is for player reference only; seems extremely rare that a GM needs to audit a player's chronicle sheets. Makes the whole issue a moot point.
