Magus Arcane Pool + Arcane Archer Enhanced Arrows

Rules Questions

Shadow Lodge

My level 1 Magus/level 6 Ranger just leveled up to level 8 for my first Arcane Archer level. I am wondering if the Arcane Pool Enhancement (+1) to my bow stacks with the +1 enhancement to my arrows for Arcane Archer. My initial thought was that they do but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

Magical weapon and ammo never stacks, you just take the bigger bonus. Abilities do stack unless they're the same, though. You could fire a +1 flaming arrow from a +3 holy bow and it would resolve as a +3 flaming holy weapon.

Ah but they do stack.

At 1st level, a magus can expend 1 point from his arcane pool as a swift action to grant any weapon he is holding a +1 enhancement bonus for 1 minute. For every four levels beyond 1st, the weapon gains another +1 enhancement bonus, to a maximum of +5 at 17th level. These bonuses can be added to the weapon, stacking with existing weapon enhancement to a maximum of +5. Multiple uses of this ability do not stack with themselves.

I suppose that the part about "existing" weapon enhancement could be argued but by this level the bow itself should be magical making this particular issue moot.

Arcane Pool stacks. Enhance Arrows does not. Or rather, their enhancement bonuses don't stack. Any special abilities you give them will.

The Arcane Pool would be enhancing the bow... so it would stack with other enhancement bonuses on the bow.

What you need to consider is that the problem is actually that the enhancement bonuses on the bow don't stack with enhancement bonuses on the arrows.

Which is one of the main reasons I am reluctant to go the arcane archer route with my own ranger/magus. That first level is basically just a dead level,

Shadow Lodge

Yeah, it's a dead level. But on the other hand, you're an archer, one the best combat styles in the game. AA gives you full BAB, you've probably already got the key archery feats, and you get to add a whole bunch of damage from your later arrow enhancements.

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping they did but it looks like they don't.
