Raising the Dead

We are working our way through Burnt Offering and had our first casualty below Thistletop. The fighter was brutally dispatched by Nualia's minions during a glorious battle. Given the low level of Zantus, how would you go about restoring a character? I was thinking of making them travel to Magnimar following his casting of Gentle Repose. RAW Reincarnate is an 8th level Druid, and Raise is an 9th level Cleric. As the GM, I am leaning to the latter. And to be up front, I am leaving what they have to pay/do/promise to get this spell as a whole other discussion : ) Given this, what would you do mechanically in my situation. Thanks up front for your suggestions/experiences.

They have to go on a quest. The cleric will keep using Gentle Repose on the dead character until they're done. And he will send one of his underlings with them to go on the quest.

Then roll up (or build) an NPC. Probably cleric or paladin. And have the dead character's player run the NPC.

Mind you, Restoration will cost extra. ;)
