Liberty's Edge

I have a question about PFS Chase scenes. How does it effect if I'm riding my mount? Will I have to get off the mount and go through it on my own? I'm a halfling riding a wolf, so using my wolf's speed is a very helpfull push. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and what I need to do to prepair for more chase scenes in the future.

I would think your wolf would have to go through it with you on it, or you would have to go it alone. So if there was a wall that you had to climb, I think the wolf would be in trouble.

Liberty's Edge

I can see that point, since the wolf can grab the rope and pull him self up. But it's a good thing that I gave my wolf 1 skill point in climb.

The way I've usually seen it run is you use the mount's speed and physical checks and your skillchecks for mental. Looking at the chase rules I don't actually see any mention of mounts in it...

Liberty's Edge

So I would use the Mounts speed, Str, Dex skills, CMB and maybe CMD, and for me I would use my Wis, Int, and Cha skills?

Thats how we played it. As I said, when I look at the rules I can't find anything about mounts. Makes sense right? And it beats the wierd alternative of giving up your mount becuase your chasing someone.

Not a fan of chases myself, so if someone wants to correct me.

Liberty's Edge

Ya that does make sense. Sense the wolf does all the phical whork and I do the mental and charming work. I'm not a big fan on the chases ether.

At least your not a cleric. or paladin. Full plate and possibly 1 skillpoint per level. Good time for a lunch break.

My druid had the animal companion making the Cha checks too.

Apparently he knows how to hold out his pinkie at a chelish tea party...

Lol, my first question at the chase "So... I'm supposed to roll bluff against this gaurd. But I'm a cat... Can I just... walk right by?" I gave up on that chase and just turned into a bird. +10 to all checks is pretty much auto win. My brother plays a Summoner so evolution surge wings and a flying gopher wins. Theres always a poor cleric in the back.

Spoiler:
Hilariously, this same gaurd was okay with the werewolf we were chasing get by. Those gaurds sucked at being gaurds...

BNW that is funny, and I remember that one. Sadly I wasn't high enough lvl to go through it so I had to play a pregen. What type of AC was it?

Ya we had a Paladin in our party and it was not good at all. He was stuck in the first 2 maybe the first 3 boxes and did nothing. The 1 skill point hurts a lot, but if he does have a mount he would have to caculate it's ecumberance and armour check into those checks. My wolf only moves 35f because he is in medium load.

But I would rather my mount with penelties than the paladin in full plate.

Our guy was making every check, so most of the party got left reaaaaly far behind. Its why people hate them: they tend to leave at least half the party twiddling their thumbs for half an hour.

If the chase has more skill checks instead of just 2, then it would not be that bad. The 2 I went through it seemed that ether the GM was rolling Hot on every dice, or the Bad Guys had the skills for that chase. Flying is very helpfull in a chase.
